Joseph Mizzi is President & Chief Operating Officer of Sciame Construction Co., one of New York City’s leading construction firms.  In 2012, Joseph founded the Chipakata Children’s Academy Foundation and 14+ Foundation, Inc. with co-founder Nchimunya Wulf.  Both not-for-profit foundations serve to care for and educate children and communities in Zambia, Africa.

Joseph also serves as Treasurer and Vice-Chair of the Salvadori Center, a not-for-profit that helps New York City students understand math and science by using examples taken from the built environment like bridges and buildings.

 He is also a Board Member of the Boy Scouts of America Greater NYC Councils and a program participant in its Exploring youth program, which helps young people learn about career options.  In 2012 he was awarded the Boy Scouts of America, Greater NY Council’s “Good Scout” Award.  Joseph is also a former mentor to NYC students in conjunction with NYC’s West Side Crime Prevention Program in upper Manhattan.

Additionally, Joseph is Board Chairman of the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Treasurer of the Architectural League of New York, and Treasurer of the New York Building Congress, as well as Board Member of BHQFU, Friends of + Pool, and the Architecture and Design Film Festival.

He holds degrees in Architectural Design from Clemson University and Construction Management from Pratt Institute, and has served on advisory committees to the Construction Management programs at New York University, Clemson University and Pratt Institute, and was also recipient of Pratt Institute’s 2011 Alumni Achievement Award as well as the Black Alumni of Pratt’s (BAP) 2015 Creative Spirit Award recognizing a creative spirit, moral courage and a commitment to making a positive impact on society.

 He is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization, Metro New York Chapter.
